Officials say a man was detained after displaying a knife late Sunday night at San Antonio International Airport.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was taken into custody late Sunday night after displaying a knife at San Antonio International Airport, officials said.

According to an airport spokesperson, the incident began around 11:30 p.m. Sunday when a person approached Airport Police and made statements that led officers to begin an emergency detention.

Officials said the man then ran into the Consolidated Car Rental Facility, displayed a knife and fled again before officers took him into custody.

He was later taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Airport officials said there was no impact to airport operations.

No other information was immediately released.
