LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – In the last 10 years, 10,000 Lubbock County children have been confirmed by investigation as victims of abuse and neglect.
Lubbock County commissioners heard the data Monday morning and issued a special recognition to spread the word.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. It focuses on teaching everyone the signs of abuse and neglect so people can put a stop to it.
Commissioners want everyone to be on the lookout for children with visible signs of abuse or behaviors that suggest they are getting ignored at home. That includes law enforcement, health care workers and neighbors.
The Go Blue Lubbock campaign kicks off April 1, encouraging everyone to wear blue and advocate for safer children across the area.
