AUSTIN, Texas— Federal authorities have arrested a Round Rock man in connection with the alleged armed robbery of Austin Telco FCU office, where prosecutors say more than $113,000 was stolen during a brazen January holdup.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas said Syntedrick Tramaine Brown was taken into custody and charged with one count of bank robbery tied to the Jan. 28 robbery at the credit union.

According to a criminal complaint, Brown entered the Austin Telco FCU branch at about 10:09 a.m. on the 28th, wearing a brown wig, a brightly colored headband, red reflective sunglasses, a black mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt and a reflective yellow safety vest. Prosecutors allege he vaulted the teller counter while holding what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol and ordered employees to lie on the floor and avoid looking at him.
The complaint further alleges Brown forced employees into a back room and directed the branch manager to remove cash from a machine, placing the money into a black plastic trash bag. He allegedly asked whether the cash included any “funny money” or “trackers” before locking employees in a bathroom and fleeing.
Surveillance images show the suspect leaving the credit union at about 10:16 a.m. and driving away in a vehicle later determined to have been stolen, according to prosecutors. Investigators allege approximately $113,000 was taken from the credit union.
Federal authorities said that when FBI agents executed a search warrant Feb. 2 at an apartment, they allegedly recovered clothing and accessories matching those seen in surveillance footage, along with a substantial quantity of U.S. currency.
If convicted, Brown faces up to 20 years in federal prison. Authorities noted that charges are allegations and that Brown is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
