If you’re an art lover and a foodie, there’s a new spot in downtown Dallas just for you.
Astra Kitchen + Lounge in the Hall Arts Hotel offers a mix of contemporary artistry and refined American cuisine. It opened earlier this month and replaced the hotel’s former restaurant, Ellie’s.
Astra’s name is inspired by a light installation Asteroid created by artist Spencer Finch that hangs throughout the restaurant. Astra means “stars” in Latin, reflecting the celestial essence of Finch’s piece.

“Astra is really about bringing people together,” Craig Hall, CEO and founder of Hall Group, said in a news release. “It’s a place to enjoy great food, great wine and great conversation — surrounded by art and design that feels welcoming, not intimidating.”
Designed by executive chef Miguel Antonio, Astra’s menu features classic American cuisine with a focus on elevated comfort. Items include French onion deviled eggs, three signature Wellington styles, pressed sushi and filet mignon as well as desserts such as chocolate bread pudding. Astra also offers breakfast, brunch and lunch options.

Highlights from the bar include the Astra, which comes with a blend of tequila, blackberries, edible glitter and a rock candy, and a martini flight that consists of three different martinis and a side of caviar. Wine and coffee options are also available.
