AUSTIN, Texas — Good news for renters in Austin! Rent prices are dropping across the capital city.

Data released by Realtor.com revealed monthly costs dropped more than 7% year over year.

In February 2026, the average cost for an apartment of any size sat at about $1,360. That’s $100 less than last year and nearly $300 lower than it was in 2022.

An uptick in new apartments and a decrease in people moving to the city are said to be the reason behind falling prices.
