HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Houston Police Department said two people were found dead in an apartment complex in downtown Houston on Thursday afternoon.
The scene unfolded in the 1400 block of Texas Avenue just before noon.
HPD said that the two victims were husband and wife, and they both were found with gunshot wounds.
An investigator told ABC13 that it appeared the man had assisted in a suicide with his wife, who had been reportedly having medical issues, before ultimately shooting himself.
Officials said a resident initially complained about a smell a week prior, but the leasing officer didn’t check until later, leading to the discovery.
No additional details were provided by law enforcement.
