The Special Election to fill the seat for District 4 will be held on Saturday, June 27. An election is needed to fill the seat after Councilman Brayden Rose resigned from the Lubbock City Council.

If you are a citizen who lives in District 4, you can file to run for office beginning Tuesday, March 24 through April 27. Only citizens who live in District 4 will be allowed to vote in the election.

Early voting for the June 27 Special Election will be June 15-23.

According to KAMC, the special election will reportedly cost the City of Lubbock $70,000-$90,000.

Special Election Needed to Fill Rose’s Seat

Lubbock City Councilman Brayden Rose was elected to serve as the District 4 Councilman in May of 2024. Earlier in March, he offered his resignation from the Lubbock City Council in order to put his family first.

The announcement took most by surprise, but few are blaming the Councilman for stepping down. According to his letter to citizens, Rose has a son who lives with “significant disabilities” and as he has gotten older and grown, so to have his health needs. Rose wrote that, “the demands on our family have become greater than we anticipated”.
