EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 36-year-old man in Northeast El Paso back in December 2025.

According to the El Paso Police Department, 39-year-old George Thomas Halvorsen was arrested on Thursday after investigators received anonymous tips through the Crime Stoppers of El Paso program.

EPPD identified Halvorsen as the driver of a 2008 Chevy Silverado that investigators believe hit and killed Miguel Eduardo Rodriguez on US54, at Ellerthorpe Ave., near Logan Elementary School, on Dec. 26, 2025.

Investigators described that Rodriguez was hit by a vehicle while he was standing on the shoulder of the US54 after he had exited his vehicle at Gateway North.

Investigators said the vehicle then fled the scene.

Rodriguez was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
