SAN ANTONIO (March 23, 2026) – The City of San Antonio is seeking input to help rename César E. Chávez Boulevard between Southwest 36th St. and South Hackberry St. Starting today, residents can participate in a survey to share their thoughts on the name of this downtown boulevard.

How to Participate

The City wants to hear from all residents, especially those who live along César E. Chávez Boulevard.

The quick, one-minute survey will remain open through 5 p.m. on April 2, 2026. It is available in English and Spanish.

Guidelines for Street Renaming

The City only considers changing a street name for significant reasons. Proposed names should fit the neighborhood and connect to the community through:

History and Character: Reflecting local stories, important events, or geography.

Honoring Legacies: Recognizing national, state, or local leaders and public figures.

Core Values: Representing principles such as unity or equality.

Practical Improvements: Fixing spelling mistakes, matching city directions (North, South, East, West), or preventing confusion with similar-sounding streets.

Upcoming Community Meetings

In addition to the survey, the City will host two public community meetings. The City will share dates and locations for these meetings soon.
