Temperatures are expected to inch up further Wednesday, approaching heights from the weekend again.

After breaking daily temperature records over the weekend, conditions across North Texas cooled some on Monday to a high of 80 degrees. Still a bit warmer than normal, those more spring-like conditions didn’t last long, with the forecast high for Wednesday returning to 88 degrees.

The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office expects similar heat on Thursday. Combined with higher wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour, a grass fire threat is possible.

Another brief hiatus from the warmer weather is forecast for this weekend, with a cold front moving in Friday. The high Saturday is expected to fall to 70 degrees as a result before temperatures bounce back again.
