NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern’s Shatalya Dorsett and Texas State’s Elisabet Runarsdottir have earned recognition as the Sun Belt Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances over the last week.
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Shatalya Dorsett, Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern junior Shatalya Dorsett earned silver at the Black & Gold Challenge in the 400m with a time of 53.95 to lead the Sun Belt this season in the event. Her time ranks third all-time in Georgia Southern outdoor program history.
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Elisabet Runarsdottir, Texasa State

Texas State junior Elisabet Runarsdottir opened the outdoor season with a first-place, record-breaking performance in the women’s hammer throw, recording a mark of 71.41m. The throw broke the UTSA Invitational meet record, and the Park West Athletic Complex facility record while also tying the Icelandic national record. Her mark currently ranks No. 1 in the nation and is the only throw over 70 meters this season.
