LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A child is in the hospital after they were struck by a vehicle while using the crosswalk near McCool Academy Wednesday morning.
Around 8 a.m., Lubbock ISD says one of its students was crossing at the intersection of Quaker Ave. and 31st Street when they were struck.
Officials say the student was able to stand and walk to the sidewalk where they were quickly helped by parents, students and staff who witnessed the accident.
Lubbock ISD Police, EMS, Lubbock Fire Rescue and the Lubbock Police Department were all notified and responded to the scene.
The student was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Lubbock ISD Police are leading the investigation into the accident and will be assisted by LPD.
The district says it will continue with normal school day procedures but knows situations like this can be stressful for students, families and staff who witness them.
