A 6-year-old girl was killed early Wednesday morning after the car she was in collided with a dump truck in Arlington.

Officers were dispatched about 12:30 a.m. to the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 near the U.S. 287 interchange over reports of a crash, police officials wrote in a news release.

Investigators believe the driver of a Nissan Sentra was distracted by something in the back seat of the car, causing them to take their eyes off the road, when they collided with the back of a dump truck.

The driver of the Sentra and two children were taken to the hospital, where one of the children, a 6-year-old girl, later died. Their identities were not released.
