Lubbock Independent School District announced on Wednesday that a student at William C. McCool Academy was hit by a vehicle on Wednesday morning.

According to a press release from Lubbock ISD, at around 8:00 a.m. on March 25, a middle school student was struck by a vehicle while the student was using the crosswalk at Quaker and 31st Street.

Lubbock ISD Police, EMS, Lubbock Fire and Rescue, along with the Lubbock Police Department all responded to the scene. According to the press release, the student was able to stand up and walk to a sidewalk where they were attended to by parents and students who had witnessed the incident.

The student was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Lubbock ISD Police will lead the investigation and will be assisted by the Lubbock Police Department.

The Principal of McCool Academy said that school would continue as normal and encouraged families and students to reach out if additional support is needed.
