SAN ANTONIO – Both prosecution and defense have rested in the Christopher Preciado murder trial.

The judge is expected to meet with both sides outside the jury, which was sent home for the day.

The defense called no witnesses, while the prosecution presented several, including the Bexar County Medical Examiner to review autopsy results.

Closing arguments are set for 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Prosecutors say 19-year-old Christopher Preciado shot and killed Matthew Guerra, Savanah Soto, and her unborn child on Dec. 21, 2023, during an apparent drug deal. Their bodies were found the next day in Guerra’s silver Kia Optima, abandoned in an apartment lot on Danny Kaye Drive.

Surveillance released by police showed an individual exiting a gray Chevy Silverado and speaking with the driver of Guerra’s car before wiping the car door.

Police later identified the people in the video, leading to the Jan. 3, 2024 arrests of Christopher and his father, Ramon Preciado. Ramon is accused of helping move the bodies.
