“The mission of Apex is to build leaders, serve school communities, and make fundraising fun. Apex Kids Camp is how we serve school communities in the summertime when school’s out,” Mike said, emphasizing the organization’s year-round impact.

The Apex Kids Camp offers a variety of activities designed to keep kids active and learning throughout the summer. “There’s two different tracks you can do — Apex Adventure Camp or Apex Sports Camp,” Christin said. “It’s really an assembly session of relays, obstacles, group games, craft service projects, leadership development and at the end of every day is kind of an epic big event.”

{p}Parents and campers alike have responded positively to the program, especially the hands-on approach from coaches. “What’s different about Apex is that the coaches are engaging with the students… they’re playing with them, they’re having fun,” Christin said. “That’s the way they feel seen and loved and valued.”{/p}

The camp builds on the organization’s presence in schools during the year, giving kids a chance to reconnect with familiar faces. “Our teams are actually on campus doing student leadership lessons, engaging in play and then we pack up the circus and go to the next school,” Christin said. “So 60,000 kids get to experience Apex coaches and during the summer, they can come hang out with them for a week.”

Mike added that the enthusiasm from coaches makes a lasting impression on campers. “Honestly, it really is like that they love it. They’re having a blast,” he said. “Our campers get it — they’re having fun with these heroes I love watching it. It’s the best.”
