EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — An East El Paso elementary school invited KFOX14 Morning News Anchor Victoria Balderrama to be the “Principal for a Day.”

On Wednesday, Victoria stepped into the role of principal for Scotsdale Elementary, located at 2901 McRae Blvd.

The special visit, hosted by the Ysleta Independent School District, is designed to give public figures a unique, engaging experience while highlighting the importance of leadership and community connection within schools.

Beforehand, the school staff shared their excitement for Victoria’s visit.

“We are so excited to have Victoria join us as our Principal for the Day,” Innovative Technology Teacher, Valeria Renteria said. “Our students and staff are truly looking forward to this special experience.”

Victoria’s “Principal for the Day” agenda:

Victoria started the morning with a visit to the school library and a behind-the-scenes look at campus life.

Victoria then took part in student welcome activities, had breakfast with campus leadership, and then read to students’ grades Pre-K to 2.

The day wrapped up with a district luncheon, bringing together leaders and educators to celebrate collaboration and community engagement.

About Scotsdale, Teacher of the Year Mrs. Caitlyn Gonzalez said the school is celebrating its 67th anniversary; however, the campus itself was newly built four years ago.

Gonzalez added, Scotsdale is a closely-knit family.
