The Arlington City Council approved a new $60 million apartment development in the heart of downtown.
The 3.41-acre apartment development, which is being developed in partnership with Wolverine Interests LLC., will include space for multifamily housing, retail, offices, parking and other public amenities along West Abram Street and West Main Street. Council members voted 7-1, with Bowie Hogg opposed and Andrew Piel absent.
“This collaboration will deliver a minimum of 248 multifamily housing units, 15,000-plus square feet of commercial space, and a 300-space parking garage across eight assembled parcels,” said Josh Mejia, an economic development specialist with the city of Arlington.
The city will provide a $2.5 million grant to Wolverine Investments for reimbursable expenses, as well as an additional $1.4 million grant for remaining costs to complete the project, according to a staff report.
“The economic development team has diligently worked to structure a partnership with Wolverine Interest LLC on this transformative project for downtown Arlington,” Mejia said.
