Lake Ridge downs Boswell to take lead in 3-6A
Julia Harper’s bases clearing double with two out in the last of the fourth inning propelled Mansfield Lake Ridge to a 5-1 win over Fort Worth Boswell in a District 3-6A game on Tuesday at Lake Ridge High School.
Lake Ridge (13-12-1 overall, 6-1 district) got a stellar pitching performance from Lailah Murray who allowed 4 hits and 1 unearned run in 7 innings of work. Murray struck out 2 and walked none and was also 2 for 3 at the plate and scored 2 runs.
Sami Wright went 2 for 3 for Boswell (16-4-1, 4-2) and scored the only run of the night for the Pioneers.
Birdville takes down Argyle in pitchers duel
North Richland Hills Birdville’s Reagan Jordan and Argyle’s Presley Hawkesworth dueled it out on Tuesday at Birdville High School and a lone run in the bottom of the sixth lifted the Hawks to a 1-0 win in a District 6-5A game.
Birdville (10-10-1 overall, 5-1 district) scored the only run of the game on a solo home run by Hannah Azuelo with 1 out in the sixth. Jordan tossed all 7 innings allowing just 2 hits while striking out 11 and walking 2.
Hawkesworth tossed 6 innings, scattering 4 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks for Argyle (10-14, 4-2). Reagan King and Shelby Cotter had the only two hits for the Eagles, both doubles.
Evelynn Swartzlander went 2 for 3 for the Hawks and Haley Mennenga doubled in two at bats for Birdville.
