TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Texas is getting ready to test its statewide emergency alert system.
Next Thursday, April 2. sirens and alerts will go off across the Lone Star State. The Texas Division of Emergency Management says conducting these drills builds readiness before disaster strike and that the test is part of its commitment to working with Texas communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of disasters and emergencies statewide.
Schedule for April second(KLTV)
A designated testing window has been established. The test is set to happen on April 2, where sirens and alerts could go off somewhere between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
On the off-chance of an actual emergency, officials say they would not conduct the test and that an actual emergency alert would be issued just like normal. If you hear sirens or receive an alert, don’t panic but check in to stay prepared.
