Meta Platforms Inc. will spend more than $10 billion to develop a data center in El Paso, Texas, a jump from prior projections and the latest in a series of major investments focused on the infrastructure needed to support its artificial intelligence ambitions.

Meta initially announced the data center alongside a commitment to spend $1.5 billion on the project, but said in a blog post Thursday that it was increasing its investment. The gigawatt-sized data center is expected to come online in 2028, and will support more than 300 on-site jobs once completed, Meta said.
