LEVELLAND, Texas (KCBD) – A Levelland man pleaded guilty to seven counts of production of child pornography in a federal court Wednesday.
Camilo Reyes Castillo was sentenced to 60 years in prison by Judge James Wesley Hendrix.
The plea agreement states Castillo received 360 months for counts one through six to run concurrently with one another. Castillo also received 360 months for count seven, with that sentence to run consecutively to counts one through six.
Castillo’s combined total punishment is 720 months.
Authorities began investigating Castillo in early 2025. DPS conducted an interview with a cooperating witness who admitted they used Telegram to communicate with Castillo.
The witness told investigators Castillo spoke about two male children he had access to and how he sexually assaulted them when they would stay at his house.
On March 14, 2025, investigators with DPS took over the witness’s Telegram account to communicate with Castillo.
Investigators spoke with a person familiar with the staff at the middle school in Levelland and determined Castillo was working at the school as a teacher’s aide that helps with behavior kids.
On May 27, 2025, DPS analysts were able to link Castillo’s phone number to three tips in the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children database.
Authorities investigated one of the tips, which showed videos of child pornography, which were sent via Yahoo email.
On June 16, 2025, the DPS Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at Castillo’s home in Levelland.
Court documents state Castillo agreed to be interviewed and “admitted to groping two male children over the pants while they wrestled, and Castillo had recorded one child taking a shower.”
Investigators searched Castillo’s cellphone and found approximately 170 images and videos of child pornography in the deleted folder.
A complaint filed on June 26, 2025, requested the court issue a warrant for Castillo’s arrest.
Castillo was later indicted on July 9, 2025, on all seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
As part of his plea agreement, Castillo was required to forfeit all personal items used to produce child pornography to law enforcement.
