The Dallas Cowboys may feel as if they prevented a disaster after hearing the latest Micah Parsons news, or at least won the trade.

The Dallas Cowboys made a blockbuster trade in August of 2025 when they traded pass-rushing defensive end Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. That move got pushback and praise from both camps at the time, and even though months have passed, it’s still a topic in the NFL.

It’s difficult not to look back every once in a while and see what’s going on with Parsons on the Cowboys. Now, a report that emerged on Thursday, March 26, may make the Dallas Cowboys feel better about their trade.

Following the Parsons trade, the the player inked a four-year, $188 million extension with the Packers, according to NFL research, which made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL at the time. So, if he were to be injured an extended time, that would cost the Packers.

Dallas Cowboys May Be Interested in Micah Parsons News

According to a Thursday, March 26 report from Matt Schniedman of The Athletic, Parsons is expected to miss the first three or four games of the 2026-27 season as he rehabs from his ACL. He’s also projected to avoid the PUP list in training camp, so that should help him get back in business sooner, but still, missing those first, important games is impactful.

Those in the Packers camp doesn’t seem super worried, but they do admit that things could go either way.

“Parsons lived up to every bit of the hype after arriving in Green Bay following a monstrous trade with the Dallas Cowboys,” Mike Luciano of Lombardi Avenue notes in a Thursday, March 26 feature. “With 12.5 sacks in 14 games, Parsons was named a First Team All-Pro performer despite missing a few games and playing alongside some subpar pass rushers.”

But, he says that, if things go bad, “Parsons looking like someone fresh off a major injury, however, would be a such a blow to this team that it is hard to imagine a world where they end up in the Super Bowl tier.”

Dallas Cowboys in the 2026 NFL Draft

The 2026 NFL draft is set for April, and the Cowboys may snag a Parsons replacement in it. In a Tuesday, March 24, feature for ESPN, NFL reporter and expert Field Yates gives his picks for which players will go early in the NFL draft.

Dallas’ first pick is the No. 12 pick, and Yates thinks they’ll pick cornerback Jermod McCoy out of Tennessee. But, he also sees them making another deal with the Packers to move to No. 20 in the draft and pick up edge R Mason Thomas of Oklahoma.

“Thomas is my type of football player as an explosive, powerful and relentless pass rusher,” Yates states. “Plus, he has heavy hands and a nasty attitude when defending the run at 21 run stops over the past two seasons.”

Yates adds, “The Cowboys must keep hammering away at their pass rush to find some semblance of what they had with Micah Parsons. Dallas traded for edge rusher Rashan Gary to boost this same initiative.”

So, the Dallas Cowboys may find that magic they had with Parsons in a budding pass rusher.
