Injury may have been added to insult late in the Dallas Stars’ 2-1 loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday.

In the third period Stars forward Sam Steel appeared to make an early exit from the game. His last shift of the night ended with 14 minutes left in the final frame and lasted for just seven seconds. He exited the ice and soon disappeared from the Stars’ bench and didn’t return to action for the rest of the game.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan didn’t give an update after the game.

The Stars are already without forwards Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz and Radek Faksa. Another injury would even further challenge their forward depth.
