After starting its first two SEC series of the season in a 0-1 hole, Texas baseball flipped the switch against a longtime rival.

Texas scored four times in the first inning and didn’t look back in a 14-0 win over No. 8 Oklahoma at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The game ended after the top of the seventh inning because of the SEC’s run rule.

Two days after Texas was held to three hits in a surprising loss at Houston on Tuesday, the Longhorns rattled off 17 hits against six Oklahoma pitches. The biggest swing was Casey Borba’s 427-foot homer over the bullpen in left field during the fifth inning.

Borba ended up going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and six RBIs. Adrian Rodriguez, Temo Becerra, Anthony Pack Jr. and Jayden Duplantier also drove in runs for the Longhorns.

After producing just three hits in Tuesday’s 9-7 loss at Houston, the Texas offense exceeded that effort in Thursday’s first inning. Four hits by the Longhorns led to the evening’s first four runs with the biggest knocks being Adrian Rodriguez’s RBI double, Temo Becerra’s RBI single and Casey Borba’s two-run single.

Mid 1: Oklahoma 0, Texas 0

Oklahoma had a chance to strike early at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, but a play at the plate kept the Sooners off the scoreboard. After Trey Gambill doubled on the game’s first pitch and was bunted over to third base, Brendan Brock grounded a baseball back to pitcher Ruger Riojas. Riojas tried to hold Gambill at third base, but the Oklahoma leadoff hitter broke for home after UT’s starting pitcher threw to first base for the inning’s second out. Texas first baseman Casey Borba then rifled the baseball home to Carson Tinney, who applied a successful tag on a sliding Gambill.

Gambill was initially ruled safe by umpire Javerro January. That call was overturned by a video review.
