The Cowboys are once again seeing Denver handle them with ease, as they have now for decades.
DENVER — The Denver Broncos have had the Dallas Cowboys‘ number for three decades now. Nothing about the first thirty minutes of today’s Week 8 match-up between the two teams suggests anything will change today.
The Broncos’ offense has scorched the Cowboys’ ragged defense all afternoon, putting the football in the end zone four times. They’ve rolled up 265 yards of total offense, at 9.5 yards per play. The Dallas defense has offered almost zero resistance all afternoon.
The Cowboys started the game with a surge of momentum, as Trikweze Bridges picked off Bo Nix on the opening drive. Dallas raced downfield quickly, but stalled inside the 5 and had to settle for a field goal and a 3-0 lead.
From that point forward, Denver was in control. 74 yards in just five plays and 2:21 to lead to an RJ Harvey 40-yard touchdown run. Then, 62 yards in four plays leading to a Nix to Troy Franklin touchdown pass to make it 14-3.Â
Dallas did put together a strong drive after the defense got a three-and-out, going 59 yards in 11 plays, finishing with a 1-yard Javonte Williams touchdown run to make it 14-10. But Denver would score twice more in the final four minutes of the second quarter, with Harvey rushing for another score before Nix hit Pat Bryant on a beautiful throw to the left corner of the end zone to make it 27-10.
Dallas drove downfield on the final possession of the half, but an underthrow by Dak Prescott was intercepted and the half came to an end with a Denver kneel down.
Dallas has the ball to start the second half.
