Fortunately, folks won’t have to venture very far because its new Meyerland location is just about one mile away at 9601 Hillcroft St. Some Houstonians may remember that building as the former Floors for Living or Blockbuster Video. According to Old Hickory Inn Barbecue, its original tenant was a Mauldin’s Pharmacy.
But it won’t be long before it’ll be the site for the family-owned restaurant’s slow-smoked ribs, brisket and other classic barbecue bites.
“This location continues to serve authentic Texas barbecue including slow-smoked brisket, ribs, sausage, turkey, and homestyle sides. We offer dine-in, takeout, and catering for families, offices, and events throughout the Greater Houston area, according to the restaurant’s website description of the new location.
“While the address has changed, our commitment to quality, tradition, and the community remains the same as it has for decades.”
An official opening date has yet to be announced. Per the permit filed to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the renovation for the new restaurant is expected to be complete by the end of May. Until then, Old Hickory Inn Barbecue’s other locations in Mission Bend at 8000 Highway 6 South and Missouri City at 3334 FM 1092 Rd. are still open.
