Michael Brown, 22, was pronounced dead March 20, nearly a week after the March 14 crash on Highway 361 near Cinnamon Shore and Access Road 1A, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Port Aransas police said Brown was riding on top of a black Jeep when he was thrown from the vehicle after it collided with a Tesla.

Video circulating online shows Brown “twerking” moments before the crash. The same video also shows the immediate aftermath.

Brown suffered a severe head injury, authorities said.

According to court documents obtained by KIII 3 News, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Riley Rhoades, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after recording blood alcohol concentrations of 0.14 and 0.12 in breath tests.
