UTOPIA, Texas – The Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam involving a fake police department claiming to operate in Utopia.
Sheriff Ruben Nolasco said in a community update that there is no Utopia Police Department (UPD), despite a website circulating online that appears to represent one.
Authorities say the website and any related communications are fraudulent and are being used to collect personal information or money from unsuspecting residents.
Officials are urging the public not to engage with anyone claiming to represent the fake department, not to share sensitive information, including Social Security numbers, bank details, or home addresses, and to immediately end any calls or messages that request personal data or payment.
