The Midland Christian boys and girls track teams swept the team titles during the Trinity Christian Lion Relays, Thursday at Warmick Memorial Stadium in Lubbock.
The Mustangs (161.50 points) outscored runner-up Lubbock Christian (106), third-place Lubbock Trinity (103) and fourth-place Lamesa (75.5) to win the boys team title.
The Lady Mustangs (167) beat second-place Lubbock Trinity (99), third-place Lamesa (65) and fourth-place Tulia (58) in the girls team standings.
Sophomore Holt Brownlee and senior Braden Belew each led the Mustang boys with three golds, while senior thrower Rowdy Pearce won two individual events.
Belew took first in both the 400 meters (50.21 seconds) and the 3,200 (10:21.00), Brownlee won the 300 hurdles (43.62), and Pearce took the top podium spot with two impressive throws in the discus (167-0) and the shot put (59-0.25).
The Mustang boys won two relays as Cadyn Bishop, Payton Ross, Brownlee and John Ellis raced the 400 relay to a first-place finish (43.35), while Ellis, Brownlee, Maddox Crowe, and Belew guided the 1,600 relay to a victory (3:26.90).
The Lady Mustangs received individual wins from Katelynn Vines in the 800 meters (2:33.36) and Trinity Coates in the 100-meter dash (13.27).
The MCS girls also had a pair of relay victories as Kailey Harris, Sarah Sheppard, Anna Ginsbach and Coates led the 400 relay to a win (50.56) and Taylor Krueger, Sheppard, Vines and Coates raced the 800 relay to a first-place finish (1:48.51).
