SAN ANTONIO – A man convicted in the fatal shooting of a woman at a local taco stand was sentenced Friday to 50 years in prison.
Roland Contreras was sentenced on March 27, 2026, in the 227th District Court, where a judge handed down the punishment for the murder of Gabrielle Felis Del Angel.
Contreras was also sentenced for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the attempted shooting of Jesus Del Angel, Gabrielle’s husband.
The shooting happened in April 2023 as Jesus Del Angel stood in line at a taco stand trying to buy food, according to details released with the sentencing.
Contreras approached him while brandishing a gun, and Jesus Del Angel ran to his vehicle, where Gabrielle Felis Del Angel was waiting.
As the couple tried to escape, Contreras fired, striking Gabrielle Felis Del Angel in the chest. She suffered a fatal injury.
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Cynthia Olson and Rebecca Gorham of the Criminal Trial Division led the prosecution team, with support from victim advocate Rebecca Garza and investigator Bruce Hallonquist.
