The NFL offseason has a way of turning chaotic in a hurry, with blockbuster trades popping up every few years to reset the landscape. This year’s biggest move nearly involved Max Crosby until the Ravens rescinded the deal after he failed his physical.
While the Dallas Cowboys have long carried a reputation for penny‑pinching in free agency, they’ve quietly been at the center of several major trades over the last 12 months. Another one could be brewing, this time involving one of the greatest defensive players ever to come out of Texas A&M.
Dallas stunned the league when it shipped All‑Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons to Green Bay, then later flipped All‑Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams in a separate deal. Even after those moves, the Cowboys remain in the market for a proven edge presence, especially after failing to land Crosby at the start of free agency. Now, a new name has surfaced. Myles Garrett.
The Browns recently restructured Garrett’s contract in a way that raised eyebrows around the league and sparked speculation about his availability. And because the Cowboys are linked to every notable player the moment a rumor surfaces, the connection wasn’t surprising. What is surprising is that this one feels a little different. Dallas has been operating with a noticeably more aggressive approach to roster building, and Garrett himself has openly said multiple times that he wouldn’t mind playing in Dallas at some point in his career.
If we’re being honest, the odds still lean toward this not happening. Cowboys’ fans believe they’re in on every star, and the rumor mill will churn nonstop regardless of reality. But the conversation is loud enough to warrant examination. Locked On Cowboys recently broke down what it might take to land Garrett, and the scenario, while unlikely, isn’t completely out of bounds.
