Cold front Friday night! Houston gets cool and dry air this weekend

  • March 28, 2026

Your weekend forecast:

Saturday morning temperatures are forecast to dip into the mid to lower 50s, with coastal areas closer to the lower 60s. That crisp, dry air will be felt as soon as you step outside. Even as the day warms up, highs are only expected to reach the lower to mid-70s, about 10 degrees cooler than Friday. Humidity is anticipated to stay low, making for a comfortable Saturday all around.

The timing couldn’t be better for a packed weekend of events both in Houston and along the coast. Here’s a look at what’s ahead:

Astros vs. Angels (Saturday, 6:10 p.m.): First pitch is expected at 74 degrees, meeting the roof-open guidelines at Minute Maid Park. With winds expected to be light and a low dew point of 48, fans might get to enjoy the fresh air inside the stadium.

Houston Open at Memorial Park: Early risers get to feel the chill, with temperatures around 59 degrees at 7 a.m. By afternoon, it’s forecast to be in the comfortable in the mid-70s.

Bayou City Art Festival: A cool/mild start at 10 a.m., warming up to a high near 82 Sunday afternoon, and landing at 76 by the time the festival wraps at 6 p.m.

Galveston’s weekend events: Those heading to the Fourth Annual Hatchling Hustle, the first annual Galveston Island Doggy Easter Egg Hunt, or Sunday’s Ironman 70.3 Texas can look forward to more pleasant, dry conditions. Humidity is not expected to return until late Sunday, which should make for ideal racing and festival weather.

While this weekend’s weather will be a welcome break from the recent warmth and stickiness, changes are on the way. High-pressure that’s been keeping Houston dry is expected to move east after Sunday. This shift opens the door for disturbances and increases the chance of rain starting Wednesday, with additional rain possible Thursday, Friday, and potentially into Easter weekend.
