EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Strong wind gusts swept across El Paso on Friday, but the windy weather didn’t stop visitors from heading to Scenic Drive in Central El Paso to take in the binational view.

One visitor, Carealine, said the wind was noticeable but not enough to spoil the experience. “It makes my skin feel a little gritty. But, but all in all, it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful,” she said.

From Scenic Drive, visitors can see across multiple borders at once.

Zach described the view this way: “You’re standing in the United States and you can see Mexico. But then also, if you look over behind me you can see New Mexico.” He added, “That’s truthfully a super special thing.”

For some, the windy weather was simply part of the moment.

A newly married couple said they came to Scenic Drive to celebrate and take photos despite the conditions.

“Well, we just got married and we want to come up here and celebrate this. Take a few pictures, a few photographs, look at the scenery. We don’t care about the weather. We don’t care about anything else other than we want to share a good experience,” they said.

Others visiting the Borderland echoed that sentiment.

Luis said, “I actually enjoy it. I think we’re having a great time out here, honestly.”

Zach said the turnout reflected people’s willingness to appreciate the view no matter the conditions. “I think it says that regardless of the weather, we’re going to enjoy ourselves. We’re going to take some time to appreciate things that we have,” he said.

Carealine agreed. “It’s not stopping me at all. I’m loving it,” she said.
