Police said the man and his mother had gotten into an argument and at some point, the woman pulled out a gun and shot the man in the chest.
HOUSTON — A man in his 50s was left in critical condition after his mother, a woman in her late 70s, shot him during an argument, according to the Houston Police Department.
This happened around 3:30 a.m. at a home on Valencia Drive, which is in a neighborhood off Oates Road between the East Freeway and Highway 90.
Police said the man and his mother had gotten into an argument and at some point, the woman pulled out a gun and shot the man in the chest.
The man was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Police said he had lost a lot of blood.
It’s unclear what led up to the argument and shooting.
HPD said officers recovered the gun and the woman was detained.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. It’s unclear if any charges have been filed.
