Woman takes plea deal after dogs killed 1-year-old boy she was babysitting

SAN ANTONIO – A woman whose dogs killed a 1-year-old boy while he was in her care has taken a plea deal and is set to be sentenced in June.

Heather Rodriguez will be sentenced on two counts of child endangerment. She is facing up to 20 years in prison.

Rodriguez was supposed to be babysitting Jiryiah Johnson at her home in October 2024 when she left him in the care of her 13-year-old daughter. The dogs forced their way into the room and mauled him.
