LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Shoppers at United Supermarkets across Lubbock will notice new pinwheels outside the stores.
The pinwheels will remain in place through the month of April in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The annual effort is called “Pinwheels for Prevention,” when Community Partners of Lubbock, the Lubbock County Child Welfare Board and United display multi-colored pinwheels. Each pinwheel represents a child who was abused in Lubbock County last year.
The pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention. It is meant to invoke a feeling of playfulness, joy and childhood, and serve as a physical reminder of the great childhoods we want for all children.
