Dallas police officers responding to a vehicle crash at Jefferson Boulevard and Plymouth Road early on March 22 walked into a gunfight when two men began firing weapons in a nearby business parking lot—an exchange that marks the sixth officer-involved shooting investigated by the department this year. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” the department said in its official account of the incident. “Information may change as forensic evidence, witness statements, and additional videos are reviewed.”
Surveillance footage released by the department shows the two men firing into the air outside a business in the 2600 block of West Jefferson Boulevard around 2:07 a.m. before splitting into separate vehicles. As officers ran toward the lot, a passenger in a black sedan pointed a gun and fired at them; they returned fire. The sedan continued east on Jefferson with additional shots ringing from the car. No one was struck by gunfire.
The suspects, 42-year-old Frank Williams and 20-year-old Antonio Hernandez Rivera, both of Dallas, were later arrested. Rivera faces two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant after detectives recovered a black Glock 17. Williams was charged with deadly conduct.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office is conducting an independent review, and the Office of Community Police Oversight has been briefed. Body camera and surveillance video have been posted publicly.
