Police are continuing to investigate a motorcycle crash that left a 19-year-old man dead Thursday in central Lubbock.

Austin Reel, 19, died at University Medical Center following the crash that was reported about 12:34 p.m. Thursday near the 4000 block of 19th Street, according to Lubbock police.

Investigators believe Reel was riding a motorcycle west in the 4000 block of 19th Street and entering the onramp of the Marsha Sharp Freeway when the vehicle struck a raised median and guardrail.

Reel was thrown from the vehicle.

He was initially listed in serious condition when taken by ambulance to UMC, but was later pronounced dead.

Other factors contributing to the crash were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing.
