An all-you-can-eat wagyu restaurant appears to be headed to the Houston Galleria. The aptly named Wagyu House broadcasted its arrival to 5085 Westheimer Rd. last week. The restaurant hasn’t set an opening date, but it did say it’s launching soon.

“Get ready to experience the ultimate All-You-Can-Eat Wagyu BBQ in the heart of the Galleria! We’re bringing premium cuts, a sizzling atmosphere, and bold flavors to your table,” Wagyu House’s social media post read.

Wagyu House appears to be a concept from the Chubby Group, a hospitality company founded in 2015. Chubby has around a dozen brands and 40-ish restaurant locations, all centered around both premium cuts of Japanese cattle and interactive dining experiences. In Houston, the group opened Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House in Asiatown. In San Antonio, it opened Chubby Cattle BBQ in that city’s North Star Mall.

The Chubby Group declined to comment further when reached by Chron. From the looks of it, Wagyu House may operate similarly to Chubby Cattle in San Antonio: Customers can order different AYCE tiers—each one offering different cuts of beef—and then cook the meat themselves on a grill installed at the center of the table.

Apart from Mikiya, I don’t know of any other AYCE wagyu concepts in the Houston area. There are AYCE places that advertise wagyu, but it’s usually the lesser American variety. A5 grade cuts are usually only available a la carte.

Longtime Houstonians and Galleria walkers will likely be family with Wagyu House’s space in suite 2515. It’s where Peli Peli, the South African fusion restaurant, used to operate before it closed in 2021. The concept was rebranded to Mozambik, but it shuttered two months in.

Wagyu House is currently hiring ahead of its opening.
