An armed man who was shot by Fort Worth police Wednesday night on Bonita Drive has been identified and faces charges.
Alejandro Serrano, 33, is still hospitalized and faces charges of aggravated assault against a public servant and deadly conduct/discharge of a firearm, according to police records.
Fort Worth police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home in the 4200 block of Bonita Drive about 9:40 p.m. on March 25. According to a 911 call log, a caller reported that her boyfriend was assaulting her at that address.
When officers arrived, they saw Serrano in the street firing gunshots in the direction of homes, according to police.
A surveillance video of the shooting, obtained by KTVT-TV, starts with a man firing multiple shots toward the street when a police car arrives behind him.
The man then turns back with the gun in his hand and starts walking toward the officer, who can be seen getting out of the car and shouting “drop the gun.”
The video shared online by the TV station pauses at the point when officers shoot Serrano. In a portion that has been blurred, multiple shots can be heard. Shortly after, the man is seen in the street as officers command him not to move. He was then taken to a hospital, according to police.
His condition was listed as critical but stable, police have said.
Detectives from the Major Case Unit are investigating the shooting, police said.
