EL PASO, Texas – Fort Bliss is breaking new ground in military construction, launching what Army officials describe as the Department of Defense’s largest robotic construction project: 10 new 3D-printed training barracks.
The project broke ground Thursday at the Texas installation. The military says using 3D-printed materials is faster and more cost-effective, and that the new barracks will provide higher-quality housing for Fort Bliss soldiers.
Once complete, the barracks are expected to house more than 500 soldiers. Army officials say the project is the first of its kind, with more planned elsewhere.
