Man arrested after pursuit ends in crash in central Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A 23-year-old man has been arrested in the area where a pursuit ended in a crash early Sunday morning.

A Lubbock Police officer observed a pickup driving recklessly in the 2700 block of 56th Street at 12:38 a.m. on March 29.

When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop, prompting the officer to initiate a pursuit.

During the pursuit, the driver of the pickup hit an unoccupied vehicle and a residence in the 3100 block of 58th Street.

No one was injured.

Lundun Mata has been taken into custody, charged with reckless driving, evading arrest and driving while intoxicated.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating.
