ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department will host a prescription drug collection event on April 25, 2026, as part of the US DEA’s National Drug Take Back Day.
Residents can anonymously and safely dispose of expired and unused medications between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at three designated collection sites, according to a press release from the Arlington Police Department. The event aims to prevent accidental overdoses and protect Arlington’s water supply by encouraging proper drug disposal, stated the source.
The collection sites for the event are Walgreens at 4400 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Ott Cribbs Public Safety Center at 620 W. Division St., and Dr. Theron L. Bowman South Police Service Center at 1030 SW Green Oaks Blvd.
Accepted items include controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter medications for humans or pets, all solid dosage pharmaceutical products, liquids in consumer containers, and single-use auto-injectors like Epi Pens. Items not accepted are intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes, medical equipment, illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine, and pressurized cartridges like inhalers.
Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or directly into the disposal box. Removing labels or repackaging is unnecessary as all disposal boxes will remain sealed and will be incinerated. All participants must retain possession of their own medication during the surrender process.
