BULVERDE, Texas – A 15-year-old student shot a teacher and then fatally shoots himself during morning classes at Hill Country College Preparatory High School, according to Associated Press.

The shooting immediately placed the school on lockdown, prompting a large law enforcement response and student reunification efforts.

Officials say the teacher was taken to a San Antonio hospital. No word on her condition.

The student was pronounced dead at the scene.

Comal County Sheriff’s officials said this is NOT an active shooter situation. There is no threat to any students at this time.

Deputies were dispatched to the Mustang Vista area near the school following reports of gunfire.

School officials initially said the campus was secure and the threat contained, but later announced students would be transported to Bulverde Middle School, located at 29975 Wiley Road, for reunification with parents. Officials urged the public to avoid the area unless picking up a student to allow emergency crews to work.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating this case.
