The wait is almost over! A popular affordable Chinese toy retailer appears to be putting the finishing touches on its latest Central Texas location.

Miniso is planning to open a new store within a North Austin shopping center. The company, known for its plushies, blind boxes and stationery, has built its newest Austin store in a former Factory Mattress located at 9607 Research Blvd.

A Miniso spokesperson told MySA the company aiming for a soft opening on April 30, with the grand opening date set for May 9. MySA recently visited the store on Sunday, March 29, which appears to be near completion.

The Miniso structure and iconic red signage is already visible on the all-white building within Gateway Shopping Center. Windows of the building are also covered with posters that say “coming soon” and “now hiring,” with a QR code linked to an Indeed website.

The company is currently hiring for an assistant store manager at the new Research Boulevard store, according to the Indeed job posting.

Founded in China in 2013, Miniso sells trendy and budget-friendly “Japanese-inspired” products such as stuffed animals, toys, snacks, home goods and more. The chain has over 7,000 stores worldwide and is famous for having brands in-store like Sanrio, Disney and Harry Potter.

Miniso has been growing in Central Texas in recent years. In late February, Miniso welcomed its newest store in San Antonio after previous openings in Southpark and Ingram malls. The chain operates six Austin-area locations in Barton Creek Square Mall, Capital Plaza, Chinatown (North Lamar), Stone Hill Town Center (Pflugerville), Wolf Ranch Town Center (Georgetown) and the Tanger Outlets in San Marcos.
