Texas has landed a key piece of the offensive line puzzle for the 2027 class. On Monday, three-star offensive guard Jackson Cook committed to the Longhorns. The Austin Westlake lineman has been a hot name recently, getting offers from Texas A&M and South Carolina, as well as offers from Arkansas, Duke, Texas Tech and SMU.

Texas offered Cook just three weeks ago. But he didn’t need long to decide UT was the place to play. “The pride and the winning tradition of the Texas Longhorns will not be entrusted to the weak nor the timid,” Cook told Inside Texas. “I am excited to be part of the brotherhood. Hook ‘Em!”

At 6-foot-4, 290-pounds, Cook already possesses good size that will only get stronger with college level strength and conditioning. As Cook as improved his technique, he has become one of the hottest offensive line prospects in the state.

Cook has a family connections to the program, including his stepfather Matt Trissell, who played at Texas 20 years ago.

“At the end of the day, it’s The University of Texas and that brand means a lot to people in this state,” he told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman. “Coach Flood and I talked about going to place where I could be developed and have the college experience and the relationships that my step dad and all his college buddies have. Coach told me that he wants to be the guy that coaches me the next four years.”

Cook joins one of the best classes in the country. That group includes two four-star recruits in wide receiver Easton Royal and Edge Cameron Hall. They will be joined by three-star recruits JT Geraci, Cade Haug, Karnell James, and Ty Hutson. Over the next few months, that list should continue to grow, with many players still weighing their options.
