Castle Hills schools canceled outdoor activities and took other safety measures Monday in a response to a “terroristic threat” made on TikTok.
The Castle Hills Police Department notified diocese officials early Monday the threat posted on TikTok against an unspecified school in Castle Hills, according to a letter Antonian College Preparatory High School sent to families.
“Antonian College Preparatory High School has taken additional security measures for campus, adjusted outdoor activities involving athletics, and met with faculty regarding planning,” the letter said.
The school said that the safety of its students and staff are of “paramount importance.” Parents and guardians were encouraged to reach out to Antonian principal Gabriel Duarte with questions or concerns.
Police notified other area schools about the potential threat, according to the letter.
A spokesperson for North East Independent School District said Monday morning that the district was not aware of any threat. The district’s area campuses include Castle Hills Elementary School.
Law enforcement is actively investigating the reported threat, the letter said. The Castle Hills Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for information.
A 15-year-old student shot and injured a teacher at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office said. The student, identified only as a 15-year-old boy, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to sheriff’s officials. Authorities did not provide additional details about what led up to the shooting.
The school remained on lockdown as of 10:30 a.m. as authorities investigated.
This is a developing story.
