EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso VA Healthcare System hosted an event on Friday, helping women veterans start their healthcare journey.

The Women Veteran PACT Act Resource Fair was held at the El Paso Veteran One Stop Center, located at 10737 Gateway Boulevard, in East El Paso, and aimed to connect women with resources and programs so they can enroll for healthcare or start a claim with the VA.

Mark Rielo, medical center director of the El Paso VA Healthcare System, said the event was designed as a “one-stop shop” for women veterans who have not used the VA or who are curious about what it offers.

Rielo said women veterans can learn about what programs they may be eligible for, particularly those who may not have health care available in the private community.

The event also included community partners with programs available for women veterans.

Rielo mentioned that the turnout had been strong, noting organizers had been there about three hours at the time of the interview and expected to continue for about another three hours.

“Again, for our female veterans that are in El Paso that have not used the VA or even thought of coming to the VA, this is that one chance or multiple chances in the future here where we would love to service your needs in terms of your healthcare, but also get the benefits that you deserve that you’ve earned through your service and on courses,” Rielo said.
