1. Student shoots, injures teacher at Hill Country College Preparatory High School
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a student shot a teacher at Hill Country College Preparatory High School on Monday morning.
According to a post on Facebook, the 15-year-old student died at the scene. The teacher was taken to a San Antonio hospital, and her condition is not known at this time.
2. Texas cities distancing themselves from César Chávez
Thousands were expected to attend the nation’s largest César Chávez march in San Antonio this past Saturday.
Instead it was canceled almost a month ago, before the release of a New York Times investigation alleging the late labor leader sexually abused girls and women — including Dolores Huerta — who alongside Chávez co-founded the United Farmworkers Association. The investigation sent shockwaves through Texas.
